Question Pivot based in if condition table - Problem with details

    Hi all,

Hope someone can shine some light here.
So, I have a pivot table to report a lot of data from a big contracts tracker. Some of the values in the pivot table depend on a combination of criteria, and since I wanted a single pivot table, I've added some IF conditions to the original raw table and got the pivot table to get these values. So far so good...

The real issue came when I double clicked to get some specific result from the pivot table. Instead of the X returned values I got all of them. I quickly came to the conclusion that the pivot "export" is returning all the data (the one that matches the IF condition and the one that doesn't - I suppose excel sees this an a "0", which is still something.

Is there any workaround? I'm really lost here.

    Thank you in advance. Cheers!

Can you provide a sample workbook with enough non-sensitive data to demonstrate the problem? It's a lot easier to help when you can see the issue first hand.
One spreadsheet to rule them all. One spreadsheet to find them. One spreadsheet to bring them all and at corporate, bind them.

A picture is worth a thousand words, but a sample spreadsheet is more likely to be worked on.

    Hi dflak,

    Sure. Thank you for replying.

Please find a sample workbook attached.

Basically, "ifTV" column is counting if product is a TV and if volume is higher then 2.
Pivot table result is only 1, but when you double click too see details it exports all the 4 results for "Date Sold" (I'm using this in pivot rows to group by month)

    Could someone help, please?

    Thank you.

Try the addition of Power Query - is a very simple solution.

Yes, that's the way pivot tables work. They will show all data that contributes to what is displayed even if the value associated with the display is zero.

There are two ways around this and both involve filters. The first is that you can drag the ifTV to the report filter in the pivot table and select 1 instead of blank. This will give you Aug Eli.

The other is with the existing pivot table, right click and select Filter -> Value filter where IfTV equals 1. You will get the same display and the same result when you double click it.
