Pivot Table still has old values in filter fields

I have an excel sheet which I'm turning into a template, so I deleted all the raw data out of the sheet and refreshed my pivot table.
The table appears blank now but if I select to filter a field the old data is still shown. So I added new data to see if it would go away but it didn't.
It added the new data to the filter field along with the old data.
I even deleted the pivot table and created a new one with the blank table and the old data is still shown in these filter fields.

Below is a picture of the new pivot table I just made, you can see the data fields are blank but the filter fields still show values and they will not disappear.

If anyone can help that would be greatly appreciated.

Follow these steps.

1.Right-click a cell in the pivot table
2.Click on PivotTable options
3.Click on the Data tab
4.In the Retain Items section, select None from the drop down list.
5.Click OK
6. Refresh the pivot table.
