    bar charts

    hi,

i want to do a bar chart for the attached. But in this case the bar chart needs to consist of only 3 bars ship1, ship2 and ship3, therefore data needs to be some how filtered/grouped. their lengths depends on the qty of material 1, 2, 3 and 4.

    How can i do it?

Sorry but i could not attach the file. So thats why i attached a screenshot.

Thanks for that. so far so good. but when i change or add more data the pivot table does not refresh accordingly. I tried to refresh but the figures did not change.

    Re: bar charts

I don't use pivot tables myself, so I can't speak to some of the details of using them. If the "refresh pivot" command does not work like it should, I would guess that something is not quite right with the "pivot source" range -- especially if you are adding data to it. You might go into whatever constitutes the "change pivot source" dialog and make sure that it is pointing to the entire source data range.

Beyond that, I'm not sure I can be much help.

    Re: bar charts

Attach a sample workbook. Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary.

    Remember to desensitize the data.

Click on GO ADVANCED and then scroll down to Manage Attachments to open the upload window (or use the paperclip icon).
