    Filtering a Pivot Field

I have a pivot table whereby one of the fields had selectable options in the data range (open, closed, deferred). In the pivot table I only want to show the data from one option (e.g. closed). I've changed the option in the filter and recalculated but the data is unchanged. What am I doing wrong?

Hi, I've attached an example of the table and a sample data table. Its the status that I'm trying to filter i.e. I just want it to count the ones that are open.

    Hi Jason,

Have you tried Slicer option under the "Analyze" Tab (this tab will visible only if you select any of the cell in Pivot Table.

Once you click on the slicer, it will show various option to slice the data.

Here you have to choose Status.

    Attached sheet FYR.

Thats actually a very good point. I've been trying to filter at the table level without the use of slicers but I suspect the slicer will work just as well. I'll give it a go.

You can even put the 'status' field in filters window of pivot table even that would filter your data according to the 'status' you choose.
