    hi,

I have fitted a date logger to a room in my house and it recorde temperature in the room every five(5) minutes. I downloaded the logger after 3 months and need to plot the results on a scatter graph -

I have played around with the date but nothing seems to work

    there are two colums only

    (1) date.time
    (2) temperature

    any suggestions

    Paul

"nothing seems to work" is not a very helpful description of the problem. In addition to uploading a sample file (or even if it is impractical to upload a sample file), I would suggest a more detailed description of the problem. What does "nothing seems to work" mean? What does Excel get right? What does Excel get wrong (and why is it wrong)? How are you creating the chart? How are your data arranged in the spreadsheet?

If it helps, the first thing I would look at is the exact nature, type, and format of your date/time data. Are they Excel recognized date/times stored in Excel's date/time serial number system (see here http://www.cpearson.com/Excel/datetime.htm#SerialDates if you are unfamiliar with Excel's system of storing date/time information)? Are they text strings that may look like date/time information? Some other format/data type? Are all date/time values the same format/data type, or are they mixed? It seems that a lot of these kind of questions fall into this kind of category.
