Excel offers no recommended charts nor displays pivot table data

I'm trying to create a chart based off of a pivot table and all recommended charts are grayed out/blank. I've already confirmed the data is formatted to numbers. I can't get excel to do anything with the pivot table data!

I've replicated the issue in the attached file. Please help?

    Thanks!!

    Re: Wacky Pivot Table

    Hi shellataylor,

I'd recommend to use a Pivot Chart directly - rather than using Pivot table and then basing a chart on the table.
In your sheet 1: Select Cells A1:A5, go to Insert > Charts > Pivot chart.
Pull Author under Rows and "Allocated", "Actual" under values - see the attached solution tab.

    Hope this helps!
    Cheers.

Please take a moment to read the forum rules and then amend your thread title to something descriptive of your problem - not what you think the answer might be. (think google search terms?). Once you have done this please send me a PM and I will remove this request. (Also, include a link to your thread - copy from the address bar)

Many members search our previous posts, and thread titles play a big part of the search. I doubt anybody would do a search based on your title?

To change a Title on your post, click EDIT POST then Go Advanced and change your title, if 2 days have passed ask a moderator to do it for you.

I do not have any issue with your workbook in Excel 2016 with Windows. Do you use Windows or Mac Office?

Re: Excel offers no recommended charts nor displays pivot table data

I'm using Windows - Excel 2016. When I select the pivot table data range and click recommended tables they are all blank/gray/empty. The same happens when I try to insert pivot chart. That said, Radioactive's workaround worked!! Thank you very much!
