Pie Chart Showing (some) Slices with Zero Value

Hi All, any idea why pie charts, using a 25% explosion, is sometimes showing the zero value pie slice? I am in the process of completing a high volume of dashboards that are randomly showing the zero value slices, but not all of them. In the attached example, letter "E" is a zero value slice showing between D and F, however letter "A" is also a zero value but a slice is not showing.

I would like all zero value slices to not show at all, but want to understand first why some are showing in the first place. Thanks for any input.

hi sheryl. that is the problem with 3D charts. it is very difficult to look at it. click on the chart & right-click -> Format Plot Area. you should see a list coming up on the right side of the screen. Click on the 2nd symbol; Effects. go to 3D Rotation and adjust the X Rotation. at 10 degrees, you should be able to see A appear.

to not see the 0 at all, your values need to show #N/A instead of 0.

Thanks for the response. Interesting the rotation makes the slice appear/disappear, but not all at the same time. When I input "#N/A" in the zero cells, the slices remained in tact. Did this work for you in the sample spreadsheet? Did not work on my end so just checking if I am missing anything.

    Thank you again.

Re: Pie Chart Showing (some) Slices with Zero Value

my bad. i think the slice will still remain there despite being 0. making it non-3D will solve the problem though. the NA() works if you are doing other charts like column charts.

here's a good read on pie charts & 3D charts:
