is there a way to display the equation constants to 5 decimal places in the attached
polynomial fit chart?

You can do this with the LINEST function:
Equation: y = (c2 * x^2) + (c1 * x ^1) + b
c2: =INDEX(LINEST(y,x^{1,2}),1)
C1: =INDEX(LINEST(y,x^{1,2}),1,2)
b = =INDEX(LINEST(y,x^{1,2}),1,3)
I can't sdo anything more to help as an image isn't much use... If you need more help, attach an Excel sheet, not a picture of one!!

many many thanks Gleen.
I have attached the excel sheet [I think].
really appreciate your response.
Here you go...
many thanks again Glenn.
I was hoping to be able to format the formula on the chart itself
to display to 5 places [instead of 2 places].
however this gets me the info I need quite well.
bless you.

Glad to have helped! If that takes care of your original question, please select Thread Tools from the menu link above and mark this thread as SOLVED. It'd also be appreciated if you were to click the add Reputation button at the foot of any of the posts of those who helped you reach a solution.
I unsuccessfully tried to mark as solved and to add to reputation.
I will note to come back and try again.
would be nice if it could be easier to do.
The platform does wobble a bit!! The major problem is usually getting attachments to attach... At least that worked for you!!
Well there you are now... I never knew that you could do that!!
Regarding: ''Select the trendline equation on the chart, Chart Tools > Format > Format Selection, Number tab, set the formatting you like, press Add''
I made it all the way to ''press add'', specified 5 decimal places, pressed ''add'' but the format did not change from 2 to 5 decimal places?
please advise.
Minor bug.
Delete the trendline and do it from scratch, setting the formatting as you add it.
