Need to group 1 pivot table among 30

Hi All, I have a worksheet that has over 30 pivot tables, they are not grouped as they represent bi weekly pay periods. However, I have 1 pivot for WSIB that requires it to be grouped by month. When I group this one by month, it groups ALL the pivot tables. Is it possible to only group 1 pivot table, or is it an All or Nothing scenario?

    Thanks
(P.S. if this is the second similar post, my apologies, I am having browser issues)

    Thanks

    Hello,

by default, Excel 2010 will base all pivot tables (PT) on the same pivot cache. If you group one of the many pivot tables, all the other PTs will be grouped in the same way.

    That sucks.

But there is a way around that.

You need to tell Excel that you want to use a NEW pivot cache for this one PT that you want to group. Here are the steps to do that.

Select any cell in the source data table. Use the keyboard shortcut Alt-D-P (hold down the Alt key, then hit D, then hit P) -- This brings up the "Pivot Table and Pivot Chart Wizard" that does not exist in the ribbon anymore. Make sure that the first option in the dialog is ticked "Microsoft Excel list or database"

In Step 2 of the Wizard, select the same data source as the other pivots use.

The first time you use this approach, Excel will create a pivot cache that is independent of any existing pivot cache and you can use different groupings compared to the first pivot table you created.

If you do this several times, you may get a message that says " Your report will use less memory if you base it on your existing report <pivot table name> ....."

This is the crucial step where you can create another new, independent pivot cache. It will increase the size of your workbook but you can use different groupings.

    cheers, teylyn
