    Pivot reports vs SUMIFS/COUNTIFs

    Hi all,

For a large data we can make reports using Pivot tables and same reports can be made using conditional formulas like SUMIFs/COUNTIF's etc.
I want to know which factors are that can influence our decision to use pivot tables reports or formulas. I mean how to decide when to use pivot reports and when to use formulas to make summaries and reports?

    Regards.

    Hi User3,

Both SUMIF & PIVOT TABLE have merits & demerits. It depends on the requirement & person to person.

SUMIFS is easier to work when you working on multiple criteria & will update when the actual data is updated. The drawback is we have to write long formula.

Pivot Table is very fast in creating well formatted report & summarizes the data. Thus saves a lot of time. The drawback is the layout of the pivot is limited. PT requires you to manually refresh the source data whenever source data is updated.
