Pivot Table Conditional Format Row Label Filter

Hi all,

I'm trying to apply a Top 10 items conditional formatting to a pivot table field. The issue I am having is that the formatting updates based on row filters i.e. I have 100 items in my row labels field and if I filter to 10 items then all of these items are highlighted which makes the formatting meaningless. Essentially I would like the conditional format to apply to the whole data set, not just what is displayed using the row label filter. Any ideas?

After a bit of investigation this is what I have found so far about how row filtering in a pivot table affects conditional formatting based on the format type:

Format all cells based on their values - This works if you change minimum and maximum from automatic to number
Format only cells that contain - Works normally
Format only top or bottom ranked values - Cannot get this to work as formatting dependent on visible range
Format only values that are above or below average - Cannot get this to work as formatting dependent on visible range
Use a formula - This works provided your formula does not reference a range in the pivot table.
