Made a contact database that I cannot share.

I have a list of subcontractors for my job and each contact has the Business name, Address, Phone and Trade. On Sheet 1 I made a query using external data so when I select a trade from the drop down menu, it shows all of the subcontractors in said trade. It works very well on my computer, but when I go to share the file it does not work. I get the error

directory name "is not a valid path. Make sure that the path name is spelled correctly and that you are connected to the server on which the file resides."

The data is being pulled from sheet 3 of the same workbook as sheet 1. My objective is for guys in the field to be able to pull this up on site and find the subs that are in their area. From what I can figure it has to do with the connection string (I may be very wrong).

This Connection String theory brings up a couple questions:

1) is there a way to make the connection string reference sheet 3 within the workbook?
2) is there a way to make a dynamic Connection String in Excel 2007?

Thanks,

Sam

To best describe or illustrate your problem you would be better off attaching a dummy workbook. The workbook should contain the same structure and some dummy data of the same type as the type you have in your real workbook - so, if a cell contains numbers & letters in this format abc-123 then that should be reflected in the dummy workbook.

To attach a file to your post,
click advanced (next to quick post),
scroll down until you see "manage file",
click that and select "add files" (top right corner).
click "select files" find your file, click "open" click "upload" click 'done" bottom right. click "submit reply"

Once the upload is completed the file name will appear below the input boxes in this window.
You can then close the window to return to the new post screen.
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
3. Click on the star if you think someone helped you
