Are Selective Subtotals Possible?

Is there a way to have subtotals only on selected columns?
Below I have the following colums/rows. Can I remove the subtotal from the Rate column?
I have used the "min" value for now so it doesn't add, but I would like to have it blank.

Employee Sum of Hours Rate per hour Total
101 32.00 $17.50 $560.00
103 32.00 $17.50 $560.00
105 40.00 $15.75 $630.00
Grand Total 104.00 $15.75 $1,750.00

If you look closer.. you can see..

All SUBTOTAL' are formula.. like .. =SUBTOTAL(9,H8:H14)

where you want .. to display MIN change this 9 to .. 5.

EDIT: re-reading the post

at the time of apply subtotal.. you have option to choose.. (using check box) whether you want to apply any formula or not..
Uncheck "RATE" section.. at the time of apply..
