Hello,
How do I make this graph (top) look like this graph (bottom)? The graph on the bottom is something I did in MS paint to show an example of what i want.

Hi,
Welcome to the Forum.
I created an example in the attached file with 1 series in Secondary Axis and 2 in Primary Axis. The secondary line is a column chart & the primary 2 lines are stacked column charts. Please see if this is what you are looking for.
Thanks for the help, but no this is not what I am looking for.
I tried to do the multiple axis thing too however this doesnt solve the problem.
What I really want to do is have 2 sets of data and compare 1 set to 2 sets. For example:
If we have a total of 10 apples and needed to show (graphically), how many are red vs green, I would need to show:
-1 bar for TOTAL number of appls
-and-
-1 stacked bar, compared up against the TOTAL's bar, split between red and green.
Thanks!
V
The graph shows the same thing, only difference is the total column bar is in the middle instead of left. Please see the attached file.

Ah I see now in your first example what you mean. Is there any way to have these side by side instead of overlapped? I want to have the main solid bar to the right of the stacked bar, not in front.
Again THANK you for the help so far!

I nailed it![]()
![]()
by adding a duplicate line! Please see the attached file.
LOL Cleaver... adding a duplicate line and changing the secondary axis. I think I need the axis's to be equal to be able to show accurate relativity, but you've opened up some interesting ideas here. This is exactly the "look" I am going for, for SURE. I wish there was something in excel to manually adjust the thickness of the bars and move them left and right instead of being centered! Do you know, by any chance, if there is other software that specializes in charts and graphs?
Thanks again!
V
[Edit] - I know your axis's ARE the same but when I plug in my data, the two secondary QTYs dont necessarily always add up to the main QTY in line one. (i.e Line 2+Line 3 Dont equal Line 1). When that happens, the graph gets weird.![]()
Here is what I got.![]()
Example - V.xlsx
Nevermind I got it... I dont know HOW you did this. But I am very thankful! You really are an expert!

You are welcome

OK Will do!
Thanks again for the help. I am curious as to how this graph even WORKS! I tried to map it to the data, but cant replicate it from a fresh set of data. What does adding the duplicate line do?
