Building a hierarchy without PowePivot

Hi - I'd like to build the following hierarchy in my pivot table:

A B C
| | |
a b c
|
i


So basically what I'm asking is I would like to have one extra level of classification for "A", but I only want to have it for A, I don't want B or C to have to get a new level of clasification


ps I don't have PowerPivot.... so I'd love to hear your ideas
