Exclamation Lotus to MS Access to MS Excel

I am trying to convert Lotus 1-2-3 files (.wk1 files) to xls. I only have access to Microsoft 2007 version. What I originally did was that I imported the Lotus data into Microsoft Access 2007 and then exported the file to Microsoft Excel 2007. However, when I do this, it corrupts my data and doesn't give me all the data that was originally in Lotus in niether Access or Excel. is there a way to convert these Lotus .wk1 files to Excel? Please help! Thanks!

Have you tried opening the Lotus 1-2-3 files directly in MS Excel. They should be readable.

File -- Open -- change the file extension to .wk1 in the file type window. Should work. I did this years ago when the company changed over with out issue.

Apparantly that only worked with earlier versions of Excel and is no longer supported by MS. However, I did a quick google search

"Conver wk1 to xls" and found several hits. Here is one.

Well... that's the thing. I googled it too. I am not able to get this conversion software and I am only able to use office 2007 and later versions of Office becasue my company does not have protections against some of the programs or Office 2003. Any other suggestions?

Do you still have use of Lotus? I think you could use File | Save As and use the file type of .xls to save the file as an (older) Excel file (i.e. limited to 64k rows and 256 columns), and then open that in XL.

    Hope this helps.

Apparently Excel 2013 can open them, according to The Internet

Feel free to send them to me, if you don't have 2013, I'll try to convert them from .WK1 to .XLS.

No, I don't have access to Lotus any longer. I just have the old files with the wk1 extention.

Have you tried Open Office. That seems to be able to open most things.

Becasue these are confidential files... I am not able to send them to you or use open office becasue of confidentiality issues. Is there a way I can do it on Excel 2007 or 2010. That's all I have access to :/

No idea - as I said, I was just going on information I found online. I've never tried converting a WK1 file in 2013. In fact I don't think I have ever used a WK1 file, ever!!

What's the problem with Open Office and confidentiality? You'd download it, use it and ditch it if you don't need it any more.

And why do you need these files now if you don't even have Lotus 123 any more?

I guess most of us won't have access to any Wk1 files to test.
