Cursor Positioning in field on DataView

This is my very first time trying to "build" in access. I have a Phone Number field and a Zip Code field. In Design I have used an input mask for both of these, however, when i click in this field(in DataView) the cursor does NOT start at the very far left as it should. It starts in the middle or further to the right. Can I fix this?
