Counting the number of Icon Sets in conditional formatting

    Hi

I have a series of icon sets in conditional formatting indicating if numbers in each row are higher or lower than 0%. What I'd like to do is count the number of times these icons (green, red and yellow arrows) appear. Ideally I want to be able to count the number of times that green (positive) arrows appear in a row so I can see the number of consecutive days that the values have risen for.

    Eg
    Date........value
    1/1/13......10
    2/1/13.......15.... green arrow
    3/1/13.......20.....green arrow
    4/1//13......25....green arrow
    5/1/13.....15......red arrow

This would count that there were 3 green arrows in a row indicating that values rose for three consecutive days.

How is this possible to do in excel with icon sets?

    Thanks,

Re: Counting the number of Icon Sets in conditional formatting

That seems to be working, thanks.

    2 questions:

Q1 Is it possible to count from the whole range the largest amount of positive runs?

    EG

    Date........value
    1/1/13......10
    2/1/13.......15.... green arrow
    3/1/13.......20.....green arrow
    4/1//13......25....green arrow
    5/1/13.....15......red arrow
    6/1/13.....17.......green
    7/1/13.....16........red
    8/1/13......16.......yellow

Would give a value of 3 days because in the whole range the best performance was over a 3 day period where there were consecutive gains.

Q2 How do I do a trailing last line in your formula above?

More and more data is going to be added to my sheet so where you say :A10, I want to be able to have that automatically adapt to the last line of data, wherever that is. What's the formula for this?

    Thanks

    Thanks for the feedback.

Please attach a sample workbook with enough data to make it clear what is needed. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are demonstrated, mock them up manually if needed. Remember to desensitize the data.

Click on GO ADVANCED and use the paperclip icon to open the upload window.
