    Changing Date Format

    Hello everyone

My name is Holly and I would really appreciate your help on these fantastic forums!

I am using MS Excel 2010 and have around 3000 dates that I need to change, they have been exported from a MIS system and are in this format e.g:
    31 January 2011
I would like to change that to 31/01/2011.
I have tried selecting the cells, right clicking and changing the format of the cells, however this does not seem to change the format in which the date is displayed.

I there a way I can change the date format?

    Holly xXx

Hi there I have just tried that and it doesn't change the format of the date, it just remains the same.

    Hi holly_x,

Could you please upload the excel file showing those part of your data. I have tried to input your example and format as what I've said and it seems ok. Maybe there is something I need to look on your data.

    Regards,

Select the column, then do Data > Text to columns, Finish.

Then change the format to dd/mm/yyyy
