How do i conditional format a row?

    Hi,

I was wondering whether it would be possible to conditionally format an entire row?

    E.G

If A1 contains 'good' then row A = red

If that makes sense? Basically I need an entire row to change colour if a particular cell in that row contains one particular word.

Any help would be appreciated. Also does anyone know a good excel tutorial or similar?

    Thanks All

    How to Copy

brilliant and it seems so simple when you know how!!

the next thing which i should have mentioned before is how do you apply the same format to each row without applying the conditional format over and over?

for example if the first cell of each row contains 'good' that row is red

    E.G.

If A1 contains 'good' row A is red
If A2 contains 'good' row B is red
    and so on

so each individual condition would apply to $1:$1, $2:$2 then $3:$3 and so on

    hope that makes sense?!?!?!?

Select columns say A to N or the end of your data and reapply the CF using the same formula and it should work

I understand that but I was wondering if there is a way of copying the conditional format and automatically relating it to the corresponding row as you can formulas?

the sheet is fairly simple but will potentially have thousands of rows containing data needing the same conditional formating!

    any ideas appreciated

Are you saying the word "Good" won't be in Col A now ??

The method I mentioned works for Col A only

sorry, i can never explain myself well i always over complicate things!

basically what i'm saying is that i need a similar format for each row.

each cell in column a will contain either 'good' or 'bad', when the cell contains good the row needs to be a colour.

    E.G

if cell A1 contains 'good' row 1 needs to be red
if cell A3 contains 'good' row 3 needs to be red

I can copy and paste the row and the formatting still applies when pasted but I cant find an efficient way of doing this??

Select the columns as I suggested then doing the CF on the columns and it will work.

Re: How do i conditional format a row?

isn't there a simpler way to do sublists, as simple as clicking an icon in the top menu bar ?
