Hi,
We are using an excel file, which doesn't contain more then 1MB of data and have few "count and sum" formulae.
but size of file keeps fluctuating from 1MB to 500MB.
some time the size of file would be 1MB and once you will refresh the window file size will go to 480MB or some random number.
because of this excel file is quite slow and very difficult to work.
Kindly let me know if any body gotta solution of this..

You are right, file is shared. but even we had removed the share and checked the size it was around 500MB.

Then one user may be opening it in 2003 version of excel and someone might be opening it in 2007 or 2010 version, Is it so???
did you remove all users then remove the sharing then save the file-shared files are known to increase hugely in size for no good reason

What is the file format? How many users are using it in 2003 and how many are using it in 2007/2010?
If the file is xls format then Open it in 2003 alone. If it is 2007/2010 file then don't open it in 2003.
If the file is xls and like 5 users are opening it in 2003 and another person who is opening it in 2007 will create severe damage to file.
2007 file in 2010 is ok... But 2003 in 2007 and 2007 in 2003 will create severe damage and 500 MB is not a big size in this case.
File format is .xls and again you are right, file is accessed via excel-2003 & 2010 both.
let me know if any solution is there for this, because we have scenario in which file need to accessed via 2003 and 2010 both.

Please don't open/work in the shared file of 2003 in 2007/2010 version of excel because huge data loss and corruption will occur at any point of time. Even the file size will grow into GB's based on the number of users.

i know a way that can help you. I think it is the best way for you ti fix your problems. It is a add-in a-toos in Excel, it can help you to share your excel file in LAN or in Internet. In addition, it can help you to authorization for the other computer, what can connected to open what kinds of Excel file, what kinds of sheets, which have authorization to edit or only view, copy or print?
