    merging data related question

It would be great if somebody could help me out with this problem.
To illustrate I attached a small Excel2007 file.

My data is in colunm set #1.
I want to create from the data set in column set 1 the data set shown in colunm set #2.

I want to automate the process. The program needs to regognize if a name appears only once or more than once. If it appears more than once the data needs to be merged as I highlighted from yellow to green.

If somebody could tell me how to do that that would be wonderful.

    Regards,
    Detlef

    Re: merging data related question

I have a few macros that do this, but I want to make sure, you want to leave the blank spaces? Typically, I would tuck up the blanks to create a shorter list when done.

Also, would the data actually start at row 3 like your example, or in Row 2?

And we're changing the data, not making a copy, right?

    Dear JBeaucaire,

your little routine works perfect. Thank you very much.
I can adapt the routine to exacly what I have in mind.

BTW, can you recommend a good VisualBasic book for VB6.5?

If have programming skills in TurboPascal and in a mainframe assembly language both dating back to 1986. So, I am not a complete novice but still need the basics to get going with VB.

No, I can't make specific recommendations, but I imagine Googling that question will bring up a plethora of other Q&A threads where people discuss the topic.

If that takes care of your need, be sure to EDIT your original post, click Go Advanced and mark the PREFIX box [SOLVED].
