    Count Consecutive Occurences

Looking for a formula that would count consecutive occurences in a colum or row: Example:

Column A: the number to the side represents the "count"
    A
    A 2
    B 1
    A 1
    B
    B
    B 2
    A
    A 2
    B 1
    A 1

I had one at one time, but can't seem to remember the full formula

    Re: Count Consecutive Occurences

If your range starts at A2, then in B1 enter a 0 and in B2:

    =IF(A3=A2,"",COUNTIF(INDEX($A$1:A1,MATCH(9.99999999E+307,$B$1:B1)):A2,A2))

    copied down.
Where there is a will there are many ways.
