    Finding max and min values for a sinusoidal wave

    Hi there,

    my problem is the following;

    I have data that has a sinusoidal shape over time, although not perfectly sinusoidal - It has some irregularites. In essence the values go up, reach a certain peak and then go down until they reach a certain negative value and then go up again. The peaks and min values varies over time.

    Can get excel to find all of the peak values and minimum values for this sinusoidal-shaped wave?

    regards,
    Throstur

    would you post a sample?

    try the Max and Min functions for looking the maximum and minimum value in a range.

    Attached is a pdf file that shows how the data looks like and the values that I´m looking for. The sample I took is also attached in a spreadsheet.
    Bear in mind that the data is much longer than what I post here. Please ask for any additional information about this if needed.

    You can use formula to test the adjacent points.

    Re: Finding max and min values for a sinusoidal wave

    Hi Andy

    Are you able to advance your formula.

    I have a similar multi-cycle wave although it jitters at min and max temperatures, this causes multiple readings per cycle. Is there anyway to fix this? i.e. determine all the values in the cycle and then doing MIN & MAX of these values?

    I have attached an example of where this goes wrong.

    Also is it then possible to grab these values and place themin another column (without the row breaks)?

    Thanks
    Andy
