    Conditional formatting question

    Hi,

    Please see attached example,

I would like the 'day' column to copy whatever cell colour is in the drop down list to the left e.g d5 is green colour so I would like E5 to be the same colour - but still blank so i can type in it.

    Thanks

    Re: Conditional formatting question

Just use the same condition that detected the cell should be green in the first place.

Ensure you describe your problem clearly, I have little time available to solve these problems and do not appreciate numerous changes to them.

Hi thanks, is there a quick way to do this? As the real document has loads of different options & goes down a long way

    Re: Conditional formatting question

You will need to select both columns and use a formula rather than just cell equals whatever.

    See the updated example

    Re: Conditional formatting question

    Thanks,
I have attached a new test.
I am trying to get it so the colour from e.g "facebook" in cell a4 copies over to the right e.g b4. and so on. is there a way to do this as i would like it to do this for column A,D,G,J and so on.

    Thanks guys!!

    Re: Conditional formatting question

    You're welcome.

Now, let me blunt. You asked a question. You got some answers. The problem is either solved, or it's not. If it's solved, you need to mark it solved and move on. If it's not solved, explain what the solution doesn't do that you asked for, and we'll see if we can help.

If it's a new question, start a new thread. Link to other relevant threads, like this one, where appropriate for useful background. And please, provide a sample workbook, not a 700k+ workbook. Note: it's probably that big because you've applied multiple CF conditions to whole columns + formatting + Data Validation.

Short answer to you supplementary question: AFAIK, you can't lookup a value in a list and apply the colour for that cell. Very similar question from someone else recently but I can't find it.
